Dare To Dream

The Marshall Brent Dixon Academic Scholarship was established in 2007 in honor of Pleasant Grove Church disciple, Marshall Dixon. Marshall is the husband of Sister Betty Dixon and the brother of Deacon Donald Dixon. The scholarship was established in Marshall's memory to honor Marshall's love for children. The vision of the Pleasant Grove Church Family is to keep Marshall's legacy alive by supporting the youth who have a desire to pursue higher education.

To date, the scholarship has been able to award over $70,000.00 to Pleasant Grove Church students, thanks to the generous contributions by Pleasant Grove Church disciples, friends, and family. Continued financial support is needed in order to keep Mr. Dixon's memory alive and to assist our children with their goals of higher education. Please feel free to contact us with questions regarding the Academic Scholarship and how to contribute.

Betty Dixon

I am the wife of the late Marshall Dixon and an active member of Pleasant Grove Church for over 20 years. Throughout my time at the church, I have served in various roles, including as a member of the usher ministry, the baptism team, the former nursery ministry, and the MAC ministry.

I am a proud alumna of North Carolina Central University, where I dedicated over 30 years of service before retiring. Currently, I am in my eighth year of post-retirement work with the university. Additionally, I have served on the Durham County Board of Elections for 18 years, contributing to my community in a meaningful way.

Outside of church and professional commitments, I am a member of the Neo-Renaissance Book Club and enjoy playing cards. My late husband, Marshall, and I were passionate drag racing enthusiasts, and we are blessed to be the parents of Michael and Markeshia Dixon.

The Marshall Dixon Education Scholarship has been a powerful influence on the youth of Pleasant Grove Church. I am proud to continue this legacy, which reflects Marshall’s values and vision, and I know he would have been deeply honored to see the positive impact it has made.
