Vision: A cutting-edge ministry that draws young people and their families and encourages them to be faithful disciples with a passion for meeting the needs of their community.

Mission: To prepare young people to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ by influencing their spiritual and social development through worship services and empowerment programs.

Our Children and Youth Ministry exists to provide a framework for ministering to the spiritual, developmental and social needs of the children and youth at PGC and in our community. This ministry encompasses the Nursery Ministry, Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry and Academic Ministry. We provide a Christian atmosphere that encourages sound biblical teaching and spiritual development.

We have dedicated volunteers who recognize that ministering to children is a holy calling and have committed themselves to praying for and offering guidance to each child. We are intentional about demonstrating God’s love to our young disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Nursery Ministry

The Nursery Ministry serves infants and toddlers from 0-5 years of age every Sunday during morning worship. We support the Worship Ministry by providing a safe, caring, loving and learning environment for the children. We have dedicated volunteers who focus on biblical teachings (bible stories) from a simplistic approach.

We also plan fun activities and social events throughout the year. During the 1st quarter, for example, the kids participated in a special arts and crafts project. The 2nd quarter activity is scheduled for the 2nd Sunday in May and is called Exploring Nature (Looking at God’s Beautiful Creations).
We have established guidelines that the volunteers must follow. There is an age requirement of at least 21 years of age to be a volunteer. We schedule 2 volunteers for each Sunday and have a rule that if there are more than 10 children, the scheduled volunteers would have to seek additional assistance. We also ensure that our nursery, toys and the interactions between the children themselves are safe.

Children's Ministry

The Children’s Ministry supports the spiritual development of children ages 6-12 years old. We also plan and support ministry activities and events throughout the year. We have several offerings that engage the children in worship and relationship with Christ and each other.

Power House Children's Church
Power House is a worship service where children ages 6-12 can praise and worship God. It has exciting praise and worship, messages that teach how to be closer to God and fun games and activities. Our services are held every 2nd and 4th Sunday during morning worship. We come together as a group for songs of praise and prayer and age-appropriate lessons and activities that teach the message of Christ. We teach from the five P.O.W.E.R Principles: Preparation, Orientation, Worship, Evangelism and Relationship.

PGC Children’s Choir
Our children’s choir is a collection of spirited young voices that offer praise to our God every third Sunday of the month.  Our children sing scripturally sound songs that encourages others and lifts up the name of our Lord and Savior.

Blessed and Highly Favored
This is a group for girls ages 9-14. It's purpose is to provide a safe place for girls to come to discuss the topics that matter to them most at this age. In this group we discuss issues such as self-esteem, physical changes, emotional changes, family, friends, dating, etc. The direction of the group is driven by the girls that participate. Blending the insights and experiences of the adult leaders and biblical instruction, we seek to provide fresh, contemporary, God-centered advice and encouragement to girls in this age group.

Teen Ministry

The Youth Ministry engages teens from 13-18 years old in biblical instruction using topical lessons that connect real life issues with the principles taught in bible study and Sunday worship. We explore issues ranging from the existence of God, sex, drugs, communication with parents, divorce and peer pressure.

Our teen bible study is held each Sunday from 8:30-9:30am prior to morning worship. We come together for good food, fun games and lively discussions related to salvation in the midst of the times in which we live.

Throughout the year there are various learning, service and fellowships. All youth are invited to come to talk, pray and hang out with friends. We have an accepting environment that nurtures a closer relationship with Christ and each other.

Academic

The Academic Ministry exists to encourage academic success and to provide resources and instruction related to the scriptures, academics, computers skills and other developmental disciplines.

We plan recognition opportunities throughout the year to celebrate academic successes. During our worship services, we publicly recognize students for their hard work during the school year.

We also plan workshops throughout the year that focus on topics such as good communication/public speaking, study skills, computer skills and finance management (for college bound students).

Our primary offering is our Kid’s Corner which takes place on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00pm during adult bible study. During this time, kids from infants to teens can come to enjoy a time of prayer and praise. There is also time, space and adult assistance available for children to complete homework while their parents participate in bible study. For children who do not have homework to complete, there are movies, bible software/games as well as academic tutorials that the children are invited to enjoy.

Marshall B. Dixon Scholarship Fund

In 2006 the Marshall B. Dixon Scholarship Fund was created to provide financial resources to active students from the Pleasant Grove Church congregation. We believe and promote education as a major foundation for responsible adult living and contribution to our surrounding community.
