Deacons at PGC are servants of the
church and helpers to our pastor in the care for all church
families and disciples. The Deacon Ministry is organized to
systematically care for all church families, model Christ
and promote peace in all church ministries. This ministry
meets monthly.
Deacon Responsibilities
Inactive Disciples
• Receives monthly inactive list from church finance
ministry
• Inactive members are those who haven’t contributed within
the quarter
• Contacts inactive members
• Provides list of inactive members to Deacons monthly
• Reclaims inactive members
New Disciples Intake and Retention
• Works with new disciples’ ministry
• Ensures that new members become a part of a ministry
Peace Maker - Grievances/ Concerns/Promotes Peace
• Helps Pastor maintain peace in the church
• Resolves problems within ministries
• Immediately gives Pastor report of ministry grievances
• Keeps Deacons informed monthly of problems in ministry
Bereavement
• Visits and contact disciples’ who are bereaved
• Ensures that flowers are sent
• Gives Deacons monthly written report of bereaved members
• Keeps Pastor informed monthly about bereaved members
Benevolence/ Mission
• Receives benevolence requests from disciples
• Helps needy members
• Helps Pastor with mission projects-foreign and local
• Assist in Mission objectives
Evangelism Support - New Member Recruitment/ Visitor
Acknowledgement
• Works with the evangelism ministry
• Contacts people who’ve visited and wish to be contacted
• Finds creative ways to help bring in new people
Sick & Shut-in - Hospitalization/ Home Confinement
• Visits sick members
• Visits nursing homes
• Serves sick members communion
• Gives monthly report of sick |
